Positive Alliance is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that relies on the donations and participation of people like you to make a difference.
Getting involved can take many forms, from donating your time, energy, ideas, and talent, to making a financial contribution to our mission.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the following:
- Help us plan and host events.
- Help us maintain our website and keep it up-to-date.
- Help us with our social media.
- Help us fundraise.
Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee is less of a commitment than joining the full board of directors. We are looking for folks to help us diversify representation, so that we hear the voices and meet the needs of everyone who needs us. Diversity can include but isn't limited to:
- More Black, Latinx, and other BIPOC representation in an advisory capacity.
- Trans inclusion.
- Age diversity: knowing that HIV/AIDS affects folks of any age, we hope to build an organization that includes programming and community actions for young and not-so-young folks, and everything in between; and for both long-term survivors and those newly diagnosed.
One area where we are not well-positioned to make a difference is one of the most important ones: the fastest growing constituency of new HIV infections in NYC is Black women. It might not be appropriate for gay men to lead an affinity group for women, but we would like to support and empower those who are more appropriately positioned to serve that community.
Donate
Any organization needs financial resources to operate. As we grow, there are very ambitious things we can accomplish, if we can afford it. We're starting off our post-Covid rebuilding with manageable first steps like restoring programming, bolstering social media, etc.
If you can afford to make a donation, here are a few things your donation might be used for at this time:
- To help us secure venues for events (some venues ask for a deposit nowadays).
- To help us buy food or refreshments for events.
- To help us print brochures and other materials to reach new people and open our community to them.
- To help us buy t-shirts and other materials that help raise awareness of the organization and what we do.
- To help us cover the cost of attendance at certain types of future events, for those who cannot afford to do so on their own.
- To help us afford modest, web-based advertising to promote events and pro-health messaging to people who aren't already on our mailing list or part of our social media communities.
- To provide reasonable compensation for people who provide services for us (performers, promotional services, etc.).
If you would like to make a contribution today, thank you! You can do that here:
